Does SMP grow new hair?

Scalp micropigmentation creates pigment points that resemble hair follicles and can reduce the visual contrast between hair and exposed scalp. This is a cosmetic appearance effect. It should not be presented as proof of new hair growth.

NPM HFS documentation includes a scalp hair-follicle-simulation intended use. That description helps explain the product's purpose; it is not a clinical hair-regrowth claim.

Does an FDA reference mean an SMP pigment is approved?

No. The U.S. FDA has not approved pigments for injection into the skin, including tattooing and permanent makeup. An ingredient reference, registration or technical bulletin does not establish approval of an SMP pigment for that use. U.S. regulatory information also does not, by itself, establish Singapore regulatory status.

Start with the product and shade. The Medium Black 16017 Technical Bulletin lists ingredient and property information. Its FDA-related wording must not be treated as an FDA product approval certificate. NPM is updating earlier general FDA-certification wording to reflect the specific documents accurately.

What do the 2026 SGS reports cover?

The reports held by the Hong Kong company cover six categories: heavy metals, microbiology, free formaldehyde, phthalates, 1,4-dioxane and methanol. The heavy-metals report records lead at 0.16 mg/kg, with arsenic, cadmium and mercury not detected. The other results should be read with their methods and sample details.
